Yo antes veía los eventos de mi empresa como un “día de trabajo”. Hoy los veo como un “día de competencia” y me atrevo a decir que ese es uno de los secretos más grandes de mi éxito.
Verás: Antes, ir a un evento me generaba un sentido de pesadez, en especial los eventos semanales, como las Academias de Liderazgo. “Uffff, otra vez evento, otra vez escuchar el mismo choro… bue, ni modo, TENGO que ir igual”, me decía.
Hoy entiendo que todo el trabajo de mi semana culmina en mi evento semanal, así como todo el trabajo de mi mes culmina en mi evento mensual y lo mismo con mi evento anual. Y es ahí, en ese evento, donde puedo medir qué tal trabajé en ese período de tiempo. Es ahí donde puedo retarme, semana tras semana, mes tras mes a tener más gente que en la instancia anterior. Hoy, para mí, los eventos son emocionantes, me generan incluso una ansiedad del tipo “examen final” y entiendo que sería torpe no asistir al examen final cuando ya estuve toda la semana trabajando para ello. No se me ocurriría faltar a la competencia de fútbol después de practicar toda la semana.
Y es ahí, justo en esos eventos donde compito conmigo mismo. Mi única meta es siempre tener al menos una persona más que el evento anterior. Toda la semana trabajo para ello y ese día, si logro vencer al Jaime de la semana pasada, lo celebro como cuando gané mi primer (y única) medalla de fútbol a los 14 años.
Tú también puedes estar sintiendo que tu evento semanal es una carga o un trabajo, y si es así, lo siento por tu negocio, seguro le duele. La buena noticia es que todo depende de tu enfoque y ese, ESE puede cambiar en este mismo instante.
